The Sun Hydraulics CKIFVBN (CKIFVBN) is a high-performance pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring reliable load holding and hose break protection. This valve facilitates free flow from port 2 to port 1 while blocking flow in the reverse direction, ensuring that loads are held securely and pressures are maintained effectively. It features a sealed pilot which prevents cross-port leakage, making it ideal for applications where such leakage is undesirable. The CKIFVBN operates with a pilot pressure that is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1, with an effective pilot ratio of 3:1. This means that the pressure required to open the valve increases with the load pressure, ensuring stability and reliability in various operating conditions. The valve’s design incorporates a steel seat which provides robust performance and minimal leakage, crucial for maintaining system integrity and efficiency. Additionally, this model is distinguished by its capacity to handle up to 120 gpm/480 L/min, with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi/350 bar. The valve's construction minimizes internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations thanks to Sun’s floating style construction. This particular model also features extremely low leakage characteristics; if any drift occurs due to the valve, it typically indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating replacement. It is important to note that this valve should be used as a service item only; for new applications, valves from the CVV family are recommended. The CKIFVBN model weighs approximately 2.80 lb/1.30 kg and requires an installation torque between 350 – 375 lbf ft/474 – 508 Nm. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CKIFVBN check valve is engineered for applications demanding precise control over load pressures with high reliability in preventing load drift and securing pressurized loads under varying conditions.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

• There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
• These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
• This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
• Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
• Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
• Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
• Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
• Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
• This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
