The Sun Hydraulics CKIGSBN (CKIGSBN) is a pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic applications requiring controlled flow direction. This valve allows free flow from port 2 to load port 1 while blocking the reverse flow. It operates with a non-sealed pilot and features a Delrin seat, making it suitable for medium-pressure systems that may contain some degree of contamination. The vented design references the spring chamber to vent port 3, ensuring insensitivity to pressure at port 2 and enhancing operational reliability. The CKIGSBN is equipped with a proportional pressure-reducing characteristic, which limits the pressure at port 1 to approximately 75% of the pressure at port 2. It requires a minimum pilot pressure of 15 psi above the vent pressure to prevent closure, providing an effective solution for hose break protection and load locking under pressurization. Notably, this valve has an extremely low leakage rate; however, if leakage occurs due to load drift, it typically indicates seat damage from contamination. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding caused by installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge setup. The valve supports a maximum operating pressure of 2500 psi and handles up to 120 gpm flow capacity. Its design specifications include a T19A cavity requirement, Series 4 classification, and a pilot ratio of approximately 3:1. Service considerations highlight that while this model provides robust performance in existing setups, new system designs are recommended to utilize valves from Sun Hydraulics' CVV family for enhanced efficiency and compatibility. The CKIGSBN's unique configuration does not allow physical interchangeability with other three-port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to differing pilot-vent arrangements.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a Delrin seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • The Delrin seat is suitable for dirty, medium pressure systems that are not subjected to high flows or temperatures.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
