The Sun Hydraulics CKIHSEN (CKIHSEN) is a sophisticated pilot-to-open check valve designed for hydraulic circuits. It features a non-sealed pilot, steel seat, and a vented configuration which enhances its functionality in various hydraulic applications. This valve permits free flow from port 2 to the load at port 1 and blocks flow in the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in systems requiring such directional control. The CKIHSEN's operation is influenced by pressure at its external pilot port that opens the valve to allow flow from port 1 to port 2. The required pilot pressure is proportional to the load pressure at port 1, making it adaptable to different pressure levels experienced in real-world applications. Notably, this valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 due to its spring chamber referencing the vent at port 3, which also helps in maintaining stability and performance under varied conditions. This model incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction which minimizes potential internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, thus ensuring reliability and longevity of the valve even under tough operating conditions. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and capable of handling up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), the CKIHSEN is built for high-capacity systems. Additionally, this valve provides critical functionalities such as hose break protection and prevention of load drifting, which are essential for safety and efficiency in hydraulic systems. Its design allows for extremely low leakage rates; however, if any drift occurs due to the valve, it typically indicates seat damage from contamination, necessitating replacement. The CKIHSEN's robust design and operational features make it an indispensable component in modern hydraulic systems where precise fluid control and reliability are paramount.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a non-sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the external pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber references the vent (port 3).

  • There is a positve seal between ports 2 and 3.
  • These valves should be considered service items only. New applications should use valves from the CV*V family.
  • This valve has a proportional pressure reducing characteristic that limits the pressure developed at port 1 to about 75% of the pressure at port 2.
  • Pilot pressure as low as 15 psi (1 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
  • Standard unsealed pilot allows air trapped in the pilot line to be purged from the circuit.
  • Pilot-to-open check cartridges are locking valves, not motion control valves. For motion control applications, use counterbalance valves.
  • Extremely low leakage. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve is not physically interchangeable with other 3 port pilot-to-open check valves or counterbalance valves due to the different pilot/vent configuration.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
