The Sun Hydraulics CNGCXAV (CNGCXAV) is a meticulously engineered hydraulic valve designed for specific flow control applications. This model is a fixed orifice, non-pressure compensated flow control valve with a reverse flow check, ensuring reliable operation in various hydraulic systems. The flow setting of this valve is predetermined by the user and factory-set to meet precise specifications, requiring customers to specify the orifice diameter during ordering. The CNGCXAV fits into T16A cavity and belongs to the Series 3, supporting a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). It offers an orifice range from 0.016 to 0.218 inches (0.4 to 5.5 mm), which allows for customization based on system requirements. The valve's construction includes options for corrosion resistance; model code suffixes AP and LH denote external stainless steel or external zinc-nickel plated components respectively, catering to different environmental needs. Additionally, this model incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding\u2014a common issue due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This feature enhances the durability and reliability of the valve in demanding applications. The specified orifice diameter is conveniently stamped on one of the cartridge's hex faces for easy identification during maintenance or system checks. For installation, the valve has a hex size of 1 1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and requires an installation torque between 150 - 160 lbf ft (203 - 217 Nm). Weighing at approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), it remains lightweight yet robust enough for both mobile and industrial applications. The seal kit provided uses Viton components, ensuring high resistance against temperature variations and chemical exposures typical in hydraulic environments.

This valve is a fixed orifice, non-pressure compensated flow control with a reverse flow check. The flow setting is specified by the user and is set at the factory.
- Customer must specify the orifice diameter.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- These are essentially check valves with bypass orifices. The flow path matches Sun's flow controls and can be used in any flow control manifolds. Valves with the opposite direction of flow can be found under check valves with bypass orifices.
- Because these valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- The customer specified orifice diameter is stamped on one of the cartridge's hex faces.
- Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
