The Sun Hydraulics CNGVXEN (CNGVXEN) is a sophisticated hydraulic valve designed for specific industrial applications requiring controlled fluid dynamics. This pilot-to-open check valve integrates a bypass orifice whose diameter is customizable based on customer specifications. The device facilitates free flow from valve port 2 to load port 1 while blocking the opposite direction, ensuring efficient operation in systems where reverse flow needs to be prevented. Engineered with a sealed pilot and a steel seat, the CNGVXEN is vented to enhance its performance and durability. It operates under a pilot pressure that must be slightly higher than the pressure at the vent, typically starting at 75 psi above vent pressure, to prevent the valve from closing prematurely. This feature makes it suitable for applications where precise control over fluid transfer and pressure regulation is critical. The valve's design allows it to be interchangeable with 3-port counterbalance valves in terms of physical dimensions and flow paths for given frame sizes, although cartridge extension dimensions may vary slightly. This interchangeability provides flexibility in system design and simplifies maintenance procedures. Additionally, the Sun Hydraulics floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining, ensuring reliable operation under varying installation conditions. With a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min) and a pilot ratio of 3:1, the CNGVXEN can handle significant fluid volumes efficiently. The orifice range for this model spans from .016 to .094 inches (0.4 to 2.4 mm), accommodating various operational requirements. The valve also features manual load release control options for enhanced operational flexibility. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics CNGVXEN check valve is engineered to provide reliable performance in hydraulic systems requiring precise backflow prevention and pressure control, making it an essential component for industrial applications demanding high levels of hydraulic integrity and efficiency.

This valve is a pilot to open check valve with a bypass orifice. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the pilot (port 3) pilot port will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. The valve is insensitive to pressure at port 2 because the spring chamber is referenced out the back of the hex body. Note: The bypass orifice diameter is specified by the customer. See Technical Data below for the allowable orifice range.

  • Pilot pressure as low as 75 psi (5 bar) higher than the pressure at the vent can prevent the valve from closing.
  • Atmospherically referenced pilot-to-open check valves are considered problem solvers for existing circuits using non-vented valves. However, the atmospherically referenced valve will eventually leak externally or allow moisture into the spring chamber. Four-port vented pilot-to-open check cartridges are recommended for new applications.
  • The customer specified orifice diameter is stamped on one of the cartridge's hex faces.
  • For models with manual load release control option, turn load release clockwise to release load.
  • This 3 port pilot-to-open check valve and 3 port counterbalance valves are physically interchangeable (i.e. same cavities, same flow path for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
