The Sun Hydraulics DCCCXRN (DCCCXRN) is a three-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve designed for high-pressure hydraulic systems. Featuring a spring-centered mechanism and a 6-port configuration, this valve is capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The DCCCXRN model is particularly noted for its robust construction, including a hardened spool and sleeve that ensure low leakage rates and superior wear characteristics. This model uses Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding, which can occur due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. The valve operates with a flow capacity ranging from 7 to 10 gpm (28 to 40 L/min), and it requires a minimum pilot pressure of 175 psi (12 bar) to shift. Leakage per path is meticulously controlled, with maximum leakage specified at 2 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). The pilot ports (ports 5 and 6) are designed to be positively sealed from the work ports, enhancing the overall efficiency and safety of the system. Additionally, the DCCCXRN features practical installation dimensions including a valve hex size of 7/8 in. (22.2 mm) and an installation torque requirement between 30 - 35 lbf\u00b7ft (41 - 47 Nm). The model's weight is relatively light at approximately .40 lb (0.20 kg), facilitating easier handling and integration into various hydraulic setups. Overall, the DCCCXRN offers reliable performance and flexibility for specialized hydraulic applications requiring precise control over flow and pressure.

Three-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-centered, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.

  • All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
  • The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
  • Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
  • The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
  • Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
