The Sun Hydraulics DCCCXWN (DCCCXWN) is a three-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve that is spring-centered and features six ports. This model is designed for high-pressure applications with all ports capable of handling up to 5000 psi (350 bar), including the X and Y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6). The valve's performance and capacity vary depending on the spool type selected, influenced by flow forces which are proportional to flow and pressure drop. These forces can resist the opening of a passage, especially in spool configurations that open passages as they spring center. The DCCCXWN offers a flow capacity range between 7 to 10 gpm (28 to 40 L/min) and requires a minimum pilot pressure of 175 psi (12 bar) to shift the valve. It features hardened spool and sleeve for reduced leakage rates and enhanced wear characteristics, ensuring consistent performance. The model incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes potential internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Key specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) of 2 in³/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar), and pilot volume displacement of .02 in³ (0.33 cc). The valve's hex size is 7/8 in. (22.2 mm) with an installation torque requirement of between 30 - 35 lbf·ft (41 - 47 Nm). The model weighs approximately .40 lb (0.20 kg). For maintenance or repairs, a Viton seal kit is available under part number: 990061006.

Three-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-centered, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.
- All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
- The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
- Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
- The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
- Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
