The Sun Hydraulics DCCFXWN (DCCFXWN) is a versatile two-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve designed for robust hydraulic system applications. This spring-offset, 6-port directional valve can be customized with one of nine different spool options, allowing adaptability to various operational requirements. The primary supply port is designated as port 3, and all ports are capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), including the pilot ports (port 5 and port 6). The performance of the DCCFXWN varies depending on the chosen spool type due to flow forces which are influenced by both flow rate and pressure drop across the valve. These forces typically counteract the opening of passages, particularly in spools that open passages as they return to center. If these flow forces surpass the force of the centering spring, incomplete shifting of the valve may occur, although higher flows can be utilized at reduced pressures without issue. The DCCFXWN features hardened spool and sleeve components that ensure low leakage rates and superior wear characteristics. It also incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Key technical specifications include a capacity range of 7-10 gpm (28-40 L/min), a minimum pilot pressure requirement of 175 psi (12 bar) for valve shifting, and maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) being limited to 2 in³/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). The valve's hex size is 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) with an installation torque between 30-35 lbf·ft (41-47 Nm), and it weighs approximately .45 lb (0.20 kg). The recommended seal kit for this cartridge is Viton: 990061006.

Two-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-offset, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of 9 different spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.

• All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
• The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
• Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
• The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
• Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
