The Sun Hydraulics DCDFXBV (DCDFXBV) is a versatile two-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve featuring a spring-offset, 6-port configuration. It offers a variety of nine different spool options to cater to specific application requirements. The valve is designed with a supply port at port 3, and all ports, including the pilot ports (port 5 and port 6), can withstand pressures up to 5000 psi or 350 bar. The performance limits of this valve vary based on the chosen spool type due to flow forces which are proportional to the flow rate and pressure drop across the valve. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes potential internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variances in cavity/cartridge machining. This design ensures consistent operation and durability of the valve under diverse conditions. The hardened spool and sleeve enhance the product's wear characteristics while maintaining low spool leakage rates. The DCDFXBV is equipped with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they could be damaged. Key specifications include a flow capacity range of 11-30 gpm (38-120 L/min), minimum pilot pressure required for valve shifting at 150 psi (10.5 bar), and maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) being 2 in³/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). The model also features a pilot volume displacement of .06 in³ (0.98 cc), hex size for installation at 1⅛ inches (28.6 mm), installation torque between 45-50 lbf·ft (61-68 Nm), and weighs approximately .80 lb (0.35 kg).

Two-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-offset, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of 9 different spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.
- All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
- The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
- Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
- The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
