The Sun Hydraulics DCDFXYV (DCDFXYV) is a two-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve characterized by its spring-offset, 6-port configuration which can be adapted with one of nine different spool options. This versatility allows the DCDFXYV to meet various application requirements effectively. The valve's supply port is designated as port 3, and it along with all other ports including the pilot ports (port 5 and port 6) can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The performance and capacity of the DCDFXYV are influenced by the chosen spool type due to variations in flow forces, which are proportional to flow rate and pressure drop across the valve. Spool configurations that open passages during spring centering are particularly affected by these forces; if they exceed the force of the centering spring, incomplete shifting of the valve may occur. This highlights the need for careful selection based on operational conditions where higher flows might be feasible at lower pressures. Leakage rates are specified for each path in technical data, ensuring clarity in performance expectations. The pilot ports are designed with positive seals from work ports, enhancing operational integrity and reliability. For applications involving phosphate ester fluids, cartridges fitted with EPDM seals are recommended; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they could degrade. Furthermore, durability and consistent performance are supported by a hardened spool and sleeve which also contribute to low leakage rates and superior wear characteristics. The DCDFXYV incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal binding that could result from excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This model is housed in a T62A cavity, belongs to Series 2, supports a flow capacity range of 11 - 30 gpm (38 - 120 L/min), requires a minimum pilot pressure of 150 psi (10.5 bar) for valve shifting, and ensures maximum leakage does not exceed 2 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). Installation specifications include a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and an installation torque range between 45 -50 lbf\u00b7ft (61 -68 Nm), with the model weighing approximately .80 lb (0.35 kg).

Two-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-offset, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of 9 different spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.

  • All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
  • The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
  • Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
  • The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
