The Sun Hydraulics DCECXWN (DCECXWN) is a versatile hydraulic component designed for high-pressure applications. This three-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve is spring-centered and features a 6-port configuration, with the supply port designated as port 3. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) across all ports, including the pilot ports (port 5 and port 6). Depending on the selected spool type, its capacity ranges from 25 to 100 gpm (95 to 380 L/min), making it suitable for a variety of flow rates. The DCECXWN model incorporates hardened spool and sleeve components which ensure low leakage rates and impressive durability against wear. It employs Sun\u2019s floating style construction which reduces the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model also features EPDM seals specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can cause damage. For efficient operation, this valve requires a minimum pilot pressure of 125 psi (9 bar) to shift, and offers a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's design ensures that the pilot ports are positively sealed from the work ports, preventing any cross-contamination between different fluid paths. Additionally, each path's leakage performance is meticulously documented in technical data sheets provided by Sun Hydraulics. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics DCECXWN model stands out for its robust construction, customizable configurations through various spool options, and its ability to operate under high-pressure conditions while maintaining precise control and minimal leakage.

Three-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-centered, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.
- All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
- The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
- Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
- The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
