The Sun Hydraulics DCFFXCN (DCFFXCN) is a two-position, 4-way directional cartridge valve characterized by its spring-offset, 6-port configuration. This valve offers flexibility with a choice of nine different spool options, ensuring adaptability to various hydraulic system requirements. The DCFFXCN is designed for high-pressure applications, accepting up to 5000 psi (350 bar) across all ports, including the pilot ports (port 5 and port 6). Each spool type's capacity is influenced by flow forces which are proportional to flow and pressure drop. These forces typically resist opening passages, especially in configurations where passages open as they spring center. This model features hardened spool and sleeve for low leakage rates and enhanced wear characteristics, making it suitable for demanding operational environments. It incorporates Sun’s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding that could result from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The valve's design ensures consistent performance with a maximum leakage rate of 2 in³/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar) and operates efficiently within a flow capacity range of 50-200 gpm (200-760 L/min). Key specifications include a minimum pilot pressure requirement of 125 psi (9 bar) for valve shifting, pilot volume displacement of 0.42 in³ (6.9 cc), and an installation torque range of 350-375 lbf·ft (474-508 Nm). The DCFFXCN weighs approximately 3.90 lbs (1.75 kg) and utilizes Viton seals for enhanced durability under various operating conditions. This makes the DCFFXCN an ideal solution for hydraulic systems requiring reliable directional control and robust performance.

Two-position, 4-way directional cartridges are spring-offset, 6-port directional valves that can be configured from a choice of 9 different spool options. The supply port is port 3 and all ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar). Capacity for these pilot-to-shift valves is dependent on the spool type specified.
- All ports will accept 5000 psi (350 bar), including the x and y pilot ports (port 5 and port 6).
- The reason for the different capacities, or performance limits, for the different spool configurations are flow forces. Flow forces are proportional to flow and pressure drop. Typically, they resist the opening of a passage. Spool configurations that open passages as they spring center are the most susceptible. If the flow forces due to the flow and pressure conditions exceed the centering spring force the valve may not shift completely. Higher flows may be used at lower pressures.
- Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
- The pilot ports, 5 and 6, are positively sealed from the work ports.
- Hardened spool and sleeve provide consistent and low spool leakage rates and excellent wear characteristics.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
