The Sun Hydraulics DMDADAN536 (DMDADAN536) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for rigorous hydraulic applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve operates efficiently with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity up to 12 gpm (45 L/min). The valve features closed transitions between spool positions B and R, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times during operation. Constructed to be durable, the DMDADAN536 incorporates a wet armature design which allows the working fluid to surround the armature thereby cooling it, although prolonged energization can lead to fluid breakdown in certain conditions. It is also equipped with EPDM seals specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage when exposed to petroleum-based fluids. The manual override function in models with D or L control uses a detent mechanism intended for temporary actuation only, with an expected mechanical life of about 7,000 cycles. The solenoid coils are interchangeable across other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Additionally, this model employs Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model's rapid response time (typically around 50 ms), along with its robust switching frequency of up to 15,000 cycles per hour, makes it highly suitable for systems requiring precise control and reliability in demanding operational environments. The manual override requires minimal force (5 lbs at 1000 psi) and has a stroke length of .10 inches (2.5 mm), ensuring ease of operation under varying pressure conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
