The Sun Hydraulics DMDADAN636 (DMDADAN636) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for rigorous industrial applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is notable for its robust construction and efficient operation. It features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for high-pressure environments. The valve's design includes closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times ideal for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The DMDADAN636 operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, facilitating its use in various fluid power circuits. It offers manual override options with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles, ensuring reliable manual operation when needed. The valve uses EPDM seals configured specifically for systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must avoid exposure to petroleum-based fluids to prevent damage. Additionally, the wet armature design of the DMDADAN636 helps in maintaining the armature's efficiency but requires consideration of the fluid type used as prolonged exposure to heat can degrade certain fluids. The interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products add versatility to this model, allowing for easier maintenance and replacement. Its floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding, thus enhancing the durability and reliability of the installation even under varying torque and machining conditions. With a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and rapid response times typically around 50 ms, this valve ensures efficient flow control in hydraulic systems. Its compact size and light weight (.60 lb or 0.30 kg) make it an excellent choice for space-constrained applications requiring precise control over fluid direction and pressure.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
