The Sun Hydraulics DMDADAV912N (DMDADAV912N) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve that features a direct-acting, balanced spool design. This model is specifically engineered to handle maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min). It boasts rapid response times typically around 50 ms and maintains low leakage rates at high pressures, with maximum valve leakage specified at 5 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi. This valve is notable for its closed transition between positions B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times ideal for pilot control applications where flow capacity is less critical. The DMDADAV912N operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, making it versatile for various applications. Additionally, it features manual override options with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation; these controls are expected to endure approximately 7,000 cycles. Constructed with EPDM seals, this cartridge valve is suitable for systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must avoid exposure to petroleum-based substances which could cause damage. The wet armature design of the solenoid part means that the working fluid surrounds the armature which could be susceptible to heat during prolonged energization\u2014important to consider in system design and maintenance. For added flexibility in installation and maintenance, the coils of this model are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The innovative Sun floating style construction incorporated into the design minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This ensures reliable operation and longevity of the component in demanding operational conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
