The Sun Hydraulics DMDADBN612 (DMDADBN612) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for robust hydraulic system applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its versatility in various operational conditions. The valve features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling up to 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for demanding applications. Key specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi, a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), and typical response times of 50 ms. The design incorporates closed transitions between spool positions B and R, optimizing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times especially in pilot control applications where high capacity is not critical. Moreover, the Sun Hydraulics model employs a wet armature design which means the working fluid surrounds the armature; this is an important consideration as prolonged energization can lead to fluid breakdown at high temperatures. The valve also offers manual override options with a detent mechanism designed primarily for temporary actuation, supporting mechanical life expectancy around 7,000 cycles. Additionally, it supports interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and features Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge. For environments using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended; however, these should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can damage the seals. The compact yet durable construction includes a manual override force requirement of approximately 133 N at 100 bar for port 1 and has an installation torque range between 41 \u2013 47 Nm. This model\u2019s adaptability and robust design make it an excellent choice for sophisticated hydraulic systems requiring reliable directional control and rapid switching capabilities.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
