The Sun Hydraulics DMDADNV648 (DMDADNV648) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic fluid direction control in advanced systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is notable for its robust construction and the ability to operate without minimum hydraulic pressure, making it highly effective in a range of operational contexts. The valve features a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and reliability under high-pressure conditions. Engineered with precision, the DMDADNV648 incorporates closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, particularly suitable for pilot controls where capacity is less critical. The manual override included in models with D or L control is intended for temporary actuation only, with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. Furthermore, this model uses EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids but should avoid exposure to petroleum-based substances which could degrade the seals. The wet armature design of the DMDADNV648 means that the working fluid surrounds the armature which can be heated by the coil if energized for extended periods. This factor should be considered especially when using water-glycol mixtures as they may degrade at higher temperatures. Additionally, its coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be oriented in either direction upon mounting. This valve also benefits from Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), the DMDADNV648 is an optimal solution for demanding hydraulic applications requiring reliable directional control and rapid response times.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
