The Sun Hydraulics DMDADPV214N (DMDADPV214N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve ensures reliable operation without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure. It features a robust design with a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for demanding applications. The valve's solenoid tube assembly is specifically engineered to handle high pressures, and the spools B and R maintain closure during transitions between positions to enhance performance limits at the cost of lower capacity. This characteristic is particularly beneficial in pilot control applications where rapid and consistent response times are critical. The manual override included in models with D or L control is intended for temporary actuation, with a mechanical lifespan of approximately 7,000 cycles. Configurations with EPDM seals are optimized for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids should be avoided as it can damage the seals. The wet armature design of the valve helps manage the heat generated by the coil but requires consideration regarding fluid selection as some may degrade under prolonged exposure to heat. This valve model also benefits from interchangeable coils within Sun\u2019s Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. It incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. With a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and quick response time typically around 50 ms, it is an efficient choice for various hydraulic applications needing precise flow management and directional control.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
