The Sun Hydraulics DMDADPV714 (DMDADPV714) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve. Designed for direct-acting operation, this balanced spool directional valve does not require a minimum hydraulic pressure to function. It features a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for demanding applications. The valve's spools B and R are closed in transition between positions, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, especially useful in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. This model includes an optional manual override with a detent mechanism intended for temporary actuation; the manual control assembly (D, L, and T options) offers a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. The DMDADPV714 is equipped with EPDM seals recommended for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they could be damaged. Additional features include interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products, which can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The wet armature design allows the working fluid to surround the armature, which should be considered when the coil is energized for extended periods due to potential breakdowns in certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures. The valve also incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model has a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min). It responds typically within 50 ms and has maximum leakage at 3000 psi rated at 5 in\u00b3/min. Furthermore, it supports switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles per hour. Installation requires a torque between 30 \u2013 35 lbf.ft (41 \u2013 47 Nm), and the overall weight of the valve is approximately .60 lb (0.30 kg).

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
