The Sun Hydraulics DMDADRV (DMDADRV) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve. Designed as a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve, it features a robust construction that makes it suitable for demanding applications requiring precise control. The valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its reliability and performance in various operational conditions. Key specifications of the DMDADRV include a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min). It boasts a rapid response time of approximately 50 ms and maintains tight control over leakage with maximum valve leakage specified at 5 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi. The valve's solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for high-pressure service, ensuring durability and long-term performance. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge interface. The wet armature design of the solenoid ensures that the working fluid surrounds the armature, although care must be taken regarding the type of fluid used due to potential breakdowns when exposed to high temperatures for extended periods. Additionally, the DMDADRV is equipped with interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products. This feature allows for flexible use and easy maintenance. Manual override options are available with detent mechanisms designed for temporary actuation only, supporting about 7,000 cycles mechanically. Suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals, this valve should not be used with petroleum-based fluids which could damage the seals. This versatile cartridge valve is ideal for applications where precise fluid control and reliability are paramount.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
