The Sun Hydraulics DMDADRV211 (DMDADRV211) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve characterized by its direct-acting, balanced spool directional control. This valve is specifically designed to handle a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min). It features a rapid response time of approximately 50 ms and is built to accommodate a switching frequency of up to 15000 cycles per hour. Engineered for high performance and reliability, the DMDADRV211 incorporates closed transitions between positions B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times ideal for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve's construction includes a wet armature design, allowing the working fluid to surround the armature which helps manage the heat generated by the coil. However, it's important to note that certain fluids may degrade under prolonged exposure to heat. This model employs EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids, while exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. Additionally, it features Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Compatibility with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products allows for interchangeable coils that can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The manual override mechanism on models with D or L control is designed for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. For installation and maintenance ease, this valve model also specifies manual override force requirements and detailed dimensions including solenoid tube diameter and hex size for precise integration into hydraulic systems.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
