The Sun Hydraulics DMDADRV72419 (DMDADRV72419) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for high-performance hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve ensures reliable operation with its fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly for up to 5000 psi (350 bar) service. It features a specific construction where spools B and R remain closed during the transition between positions, enhancing performance at the cost of reduced capacity\u2014ideal for applications where speed and consistency are more critical than flow volume. This model is particularly suited for use as pilot controls due to its fast response times and consistent performance, facilitated by the closed transition design. The valve operates without minimum hydraulic pressure, making it versatile across various hydraulic applications. It includes manual override options with detent mechanisms designed for temporary actuation, supporting a mechanical life expectancy of around 7,000 cycles. The DMDADRV72419 is equipped with EPDM seals appropriate for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. Its wet armature design allows the working fluid to surround the armature, which could lead to fluid degradation under prolonged exposure to heat from an energized coil. Additionally, this valve model supports interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and features a floating style construction that minimizes internal parts binding. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi and a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), this valve is robust enough for demanding applications while maintaining precise control over hydraulic flow and direction. The manual override requires minimal force, and the compact design ensures ease of installation in various system configurations.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
