The Sun Hydraulics DMDALBV528 (DMDALBV528) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for robust hydraulic system applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is notable for its closed transition between positions B and R, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times especially in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve operates effectively without any minimum hydraulic pressure requirement, making it versatile across various operational scenarios. Featuring a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly for up to 5000 psi (350 bar) service, the DMDALBV528 ensures reliability and durability in demanding environments. It incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. Additionally, the wet armature design of the valve means that the working fluid surrounds the armature, crucial for applications where the coil may be energized for extended periods. The valve offers a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) and can handle maximum operating pressures of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has a quick response time of approximately 50 ms and is capable of switching frequencies up to 15000 cycles per hour. For maintenance or manual control, it includes a manual override feature with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation; this component has a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. This model uses EPDM seals suitable for systems with phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids should be avoided as it could damage the seals. The interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products add to its flexibility in use and installation. The overall design and features make the DMDALBV528 an optimal choice for systems requiring reliable directional control in a compact package.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
