The Sun Hydraulics DMDALBV714 (DMDALBV714) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is ideal for applications requiring reliable switching and control of hydraulic fluids. The valve features a robust design with a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and resistance to high pressures in demanding environments. With spools B and R closed during transition between positions, the DMDALBV714 offers enhanced performance limits at the cost of reduced flow capacity. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for pilot controls where fast and consistent response times are critical, rather than high flow capacity. The valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, facilitating its use in various hydraulic systems without additional pressure support. The manual override option available on models with D or L control uses a detent mechanism intended for temporary actuation only. The mechanical life expectancy of these controls is approximately 7,000 cycles. Additionally, models with EPDM seals are specifically configured for use with phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. This valve employs a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature, potentially affecting fluid properties if exposed to heat over prolonged periods. It supports interchangeable coils from other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation variances. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi and a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), along with rapid typical response times of 50 ms and a manual override force requirement of 5 lbs at 1000 psi, the DMDALBV714 is suited for various industrial applications requiring precise fluid control under high-pressure conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
