The Sun Hydraulics DMDALNN4E24V (DMDALNN4E24V) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is notable for its robust construction and the ability to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for high-pressure applications. The valve features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly and incorporates Sun's floating style construction that minimizes internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model is equipped with interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be installed in either direction on the tube. It offers a quick response time typically around 50 ms and maintains tight control over leakage with a maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS 24 cSt of only 5 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (80 cc/min at 210 bar). The switching frequency capability reaches up to 15,000 cycles per hour, ensuring reliable performance under frequent operation conditions. The DMDALNN4E24V also includes manual override options with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation. The manual override requires a force of about 5 lbs at 1000 psi (133 N at 100 bar) and has a stroke length of .10 inches (2.5 mm). For environments utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are available; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids should be avoided as it can damage the seals. With its compact design weighing just .60 lb (0.30 kg), this valve is an efficient solution for system designers seeking reliable and durable components for advanced hydraulic systems. Its wet armature design ensures that the working fluid surrounds the armature which could be critical in applications where the coil remains energized for extended periods. This model's versatility and high-specification engineering make it ideal for use as pilot controls where consistent and fast response times are crucial.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
