The Sun Hydraulics DMDALPN714 (DMDALPN714) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. It features a direct-acting, balanced spool with closed transitions between positions B and R, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times, particularly suitable for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. This model operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, making it highly effective in a variety of settings. The valve is built to withstand up to 5000 psi (350 bar), with a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly ensuring durability and reliability under high-pressure conditions. The incorporation of EPDM seals makes this cartridge specifically compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must be protected from exposure to petroleum-based products which can cause damage. For manual override operations, the DMDALPN714 includes a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with an expected mechanical life of around 7,000 cycles. The wet armature design of the valve means that the working fluid surrounds the armature \u2013 important to consider as prolonged energization could lead to fluid degradation in certain conditions. Interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds versatility, allowing for easy maintenance and replacement. The model also benefits from Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to installation variances or machining discrepancies. With a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and rapid response times typically around 50 ms, along with compatibility features like interchangeable coils and robust manual override options, the DMDALPN714 offers a reliable solution for advanced hydraulic control applications requiring precise directional valve operations.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
