The Sun Hydraulics DMDALRV212N (DMDALRV212N) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve that functions as a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. This model is specifically designed for robust performance with a fatigue rating suitable for 5000 psi (350 bar) service. The DMDALRV212N features closed transitions between Spools B and R, optimizing performance while sacrificing some capacity, making it ideal for pilot control applications where rapid and consistent response times are critical. This valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its versatility in various applications. It includes manual override options with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation, offering an estimated mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles. The valve supports configurations with EPDM seals tailored for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage when exposed to petroleum-based substances. Additionally, the DMDALRV212N employs a wet armature design which means the armature is immersed in the working fluid, potentially affecting fluid integrity under prolonged energization due to heat exposure. It offers interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The construction incorporates Sun's floating style to minimize internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With specifications including a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), typical response time of 50 ms, and switching frequency up to 15,000 cycles/hr., this model ensures high reliability and performance in demanding operational conditions. The manual override requires minimal force and has a short stroke length for ease of use. This compact yet powerful valve is an excellent choice for controlling directional flow in hydraulic systems efficiently.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
