The Sun Hydraulics DMDALRV924N (DMDALRV924N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. The valve features a direct-acting, balanced spool directional mechanism that ensures reliable operation without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure. It is equipped with spools B and R, which are closed during the transition between positions to deliver a more consistent response, particularly suitable for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. This model boasts a robust construction with a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for demanding applications. The manual override feature incorporates a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with an expected mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles. Notably, the valve uses EPDM seals intended specifically for systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids; these seals are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids as exposure can lead to damage. Another key feature of the DMDALRV924N is its wet armature design which allows the working fluid to surround the armature and manage heat during prolonged coil energization. This design consideration is crucial when using certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures that may degrade under high temperatures. Additionally, the valve supports interchangeable coils from other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and features Sun\u2019s floating style construction to minimize internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi and a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), this valve is engineered to handle substantial hydraulic loads efficiently. Its switching frequency can reach up to 15,000 cycles per hour, and it has been optimized for fast response times typically around 50 ms. These specifications make the DMDALRV924N an excellent choice for advanced hydraulic systems requiring dependable performance and rapid switching capabilities.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
