The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMAV72499 (DMDAMAV72499) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control in various applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is engineered to operate without minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its reliability and performance in demanding conditions. The valve features a robust design with a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for high-pressure applications. With a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and a swift typical response time of 50 ms, the DMDAMAV72499 ensures efficient operation and quick response to control signals. The valve is particularly noted for its closed transition between positions B and R, which provides faster and more consistent response times when used as pilot controls. This feature, however, does sacrifice some flow capacity for performance. The construction of the DMDAMAV72499 includes a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature. While this setup aids in heat management when the coil is energized for extended periods, it also requires careful consideration of fluid type as some fluids may degrade under prolonged heat exposure. Sun Hydraulics has equipped this model with interchangeable coils that are compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products, adding versatility and ease of maintenance. Additionally, the manual override feature incorporated into models with D or L control is designed primarily for temporary actuation and can withstand approximately 7,000 cycles. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended to prevent damage from petroleum-based substances. Moreover, the innovative floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding due to installation variances or machining discrepancies. These design considerations ensure that the DMDAMAV72499 operates reliably even under varied installation conditions and system dynamics.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
