The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMBV728 (DMDAMBV728) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for high-performance hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is characterized by its robust construction and is fatigue-rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service, making it suitable for demanding applications. The valve features closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, particularly useful in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The DMDAMBV728 operates without the need for a minimum hydraulic pressure, allowing for flexibility in various system configurations. It includes options such as manual overrides with detent mechanisms (models with D or L control), primarily intended for temporary actuation. These models have a mechanical life expectancy of around 7,000 cycles. Additionally, the valve is equipped with EPDM seals suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can cause damage. Designed with a wet armature setup, the DMDAMBV728's working fluid surrounds the armature which may be subjected to heat during prolonged coil energization \u2013 an important consideration in system design to prevent fluid breakdown and varnish formation. The interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds versatility to this component. Furthermore, its floating style construction minimizes the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Key specifications include a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), typical response times of 50 ms, and maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Its design also facilitates up to 15,000 switching cycles per hour while maintaining precise control over leakages and manual override requirements. This makes the Sun Hydraulics DMDAMBV728 an optimal choice for sophisticated hydraulic systems requiring high reliability and precision.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
