The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMNV814N (DMDAMNV814N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve. Designed as a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve, it features a robust solenoid tube assembly rated for fatigue at 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and reliability in demanding applications. The valve operates efficiently without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, making it versatile across various hydraulic systems. This model is equipped with closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, particularly suitable for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The DMDAMNV814N incorporates a wet armature design allowing the working fluid to surround the armature which can be critical when the coil remains energized over extended periods. Additionally, this valve model supports interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. It also benefits from Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations of cavity/cartridge. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended to avoid damage from petroleum-based fluids. Key specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), flow capacity up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), and typical response time of 50 ms. It supports a switching frequency of up to 15000 cycles/hr and features manual override options with specific force requirements and stroke limits for temporary actuation. This compact valve weighs approximately 0.60 lb (0.30 kg) and requires an installation torque between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm), making it an efficient choice for integrated hydraulic system solutions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
