The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMNV828 (DMDAMNV828) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is notable for its robust construction and efficient operation. It features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for demanding applications. The valve offers closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, especially when used as pilot controls where capacity is less critical. The DMDAMNV828 operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, facilitating its use in various fluid power contexts. For manual override situations, models equipped with D or L control include a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with an estimated mechanical life of around 7,000 cycles. This model utilizes EPDM seals specifically for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. Additionally, the wet armature design of the valve ensures that the working fluid surrounds the armature which may be a consideration if the coil remains energized over extended periods due to potential breakdowns in certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures. Interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds versatility to this valve, allowing for easy maintenance and replacement. The design also incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With specifications including a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), typical response time of 50 ms, and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), the Sun Hydraulics DMDAMNV828 provides reliable and effective control for hydraulic systems in various applications.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
