The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMPN736 (DMDAMPN736) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for robust hydraulic control in various applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is uniquely constructed to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and is fatigue rated for demanding usage scenarios. The valve's solenoid tube assembly ensures reliable performance under continuous high-pressure conditions. Featuring a closed transition between Spools B and R, the DMDAMPN736 offers enhanced performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times, particularly suitable for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, adding to its versatility in different system configurations. For manual override operations, the models equipped with D or L control have a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with an expected mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles. Additionally, this model employs EPDM seals specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can cause damage. The construction incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style design which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations of the cavity/cartridge. Furthermore, the wet armature design used in this valve means that the working fluid surrounds the armature which could be subject to heat during prolonged energization\u2014a consideration when using certain types of hydraulic fluids. This cartridge valve also features interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products, enhancing its adaptability across different setups. The DMDAMPN736 supports up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) capacity and has typical response times of 50 ms, making it an efficient choice for systems requiring quick actuation and high reliability.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
