The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMPV628 (DMDAMPV628) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for high-performance hydraulic systems. Engineered to be direct-acting with a balanced spool, this valve ensures reliable operation without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure. Its robust construction includes a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for demanding applications. The DMDAMPV628 features closed transitions between spool positions B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, particularly beneficial in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve incorporates a wet armature design, which means the working fluid not only lubricates but also cools the armature, although prolonged energization should be monitored as it can lead to fluid degradation. This model is compatible with EPDM seals designed specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based substances to avoid damage. Additionally, the manual override feature is equipped with a detent mechanism intended for temporary actuation, supporting mechanical life expectancy around 7,000 cycles. For enhanced versatility, the coils of the DMDAMPV628 are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The construction also features Sun's floating style to minimize internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. With specifications like a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), typical response time of 50 ms, and maximum leakage at 5 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi, this valve is an efficient choice for various hydraulic control applications requiring precise flow management and rapid switching capabilities.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
