The Sun Hydraulics DMDAMRN248 (DMDAMRN248) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool valve ensures reliable operation with its fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly for service up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve features a closed transition between positions B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times ideal for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The DMDAMRN248 operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, making it versatile for various applications. It includes options for manual override through the D, L, or T control setups, with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. Specifically designed to work with phosphate ester fluids, this model incorporates EPDM seals that are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based substances. Equipped with a wet armature design, the valve's working fluid surrounds the armature which can be exposed to heat when the coil remains energized over extended periods. This design consideration is crucial when using water-glycol mixtures that may degrade under high temperatures. For ease of integration and maintenance, the coils of this model are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Furthermore, the DMDAMRN248 benefits from Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This feature ensures durability and consistent performance in demanding operational conditions. With a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) and quick response times typically around 50 ms, this valve is an efficient solution for advanced hydraulic systems requiring precise control and robustness.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
