The Sun Hydraulics DMDASNN2E24V (DMDASNN2E24V) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for versatile hydraulic flow control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is engineered with a soft shift feature which minimizes hydraulic shock during valve actuation, enhancing system longevity and reducing noise. However, this feature also increases the response time, generally ranging from 150 ms to 300 ms depending on various operational conditions such as flow rate, pressure, coil voltage, oil viscosity, and ambient temperature. The DMDASNN2E24V valve is optimized for applications where reduced shock is more critical than timing precision; it is not suitable for tasks requiring exact timing control like those needing accurate ramping. For such precise applications, Sun Hydraulics recommends their electro-proportional valves instead. Additionally, this model includes a push-type manual override control but does not support other manual control types in conjunction with soft shift functionality. This model's solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring robust performance under high-pressure conditions. It also features EPDM seals specifically designed for use with phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based fluids will damage these seals. The wet armature design of the solenoid means that the working fluid surrounds the armature which could lead to heat-related degradation of certain hydraulic fluids over extended periods. With a maximum operating capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), the DMDASNN2E24V accommodates substantial hydraulic flow rates efficiently. Its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design to minimize internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge setup. This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The soft shift cartridge is interchangeable with the standard cartridge, however, the performance limits are lower.
  • The soft shift feature can greatly reduce shock due to valve actuation but should not be counted upon in applications where timing is critical. If you need accurate ramping or timing control, consider Sun's electro-proportional valves.
  • The soft shift feature results in significant increase in response time over Sun's standard solenoid. Response time is dependent on flow, pressure, coil voltage, oil viscosity and ambient temperature. Typical response time ranges from 150 ms to 300 ms.
  • For consistent soft shift performance, port 1 should be at a positive pressure.
  • This valve includes a push-type manual override control. Other manual control options such as T or D, cannot be ordered with the soft shift control but can be installed easily in the field. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
