The Sun Hydraulics DMDASNV (DMDASNV) is a solenoid-operated, 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic fluid direction control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a unique soft shift capability which moderates the shock typically associated with valve actuation. Although it enhances system smoothness, this soft shift mechanism is not recommended for applications requiring critical timing or ramping control; for such needs, Sun's electroproportional valves are more suitable. The DMDASNV model is engineered to provide a slower response time compared to standard solenoid valves from Sun Hydraulics, with typical response times ranging between 150 ms to 300 ms depending on various factors such as flow rate, pressure, coil voltage, oil viscosity, and ambient temperature. To ensure optimal performance of the soft shift feature, it is advised that port 1 maintains positive pressure. This model also includes a push-type manual override control and boasts a fatigue rating for up to 5000 psi (350 bar) service in its solenoid tube assembly. It is essential to note that cartridges configured with EPDM seals should only be used with phosphate ester fluids as exposure to petroleum-based substances can damage these seals. Additionally, the valve utilizes a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature which may affect fluid integrity under prolonged energization.   • The soft shift cartridge is interchangeable with the standard cartridge, however, the performance limits are lower.
  • The soft shift feature can greatly reduce shock due to valve actuation but should not be counted upon in applications where timing is critical. If you need accurate ramping or timing control, consider Sun's electro-proportional valves.
  • The soft shift feature results in significant increase in response time over Sun's standard solenoid. Response time is dependent on flow, pressure, coil voltage, oil viscosity and ambient temperature. Typical response time ranges from 150 ms to 300 ms.
  • For consistent soft shift performance, port 1 should be at a positive pressure.
