The Sun Hydraulics DMDATBV (DMDATBV) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is engineered to operate without minimum hydraulic pressure, making it highly effective in a variety of applications. The valve features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly that can handle services up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and reliability under high-pressure conditions. The DMDATBV model incorporates closed transitions between Spools B and R, optimizing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, especially suitable when used as pilot controls. The mechanical life expectancy of its manual control assembly (D, L, and T types) is about 7,000 cycles, highlighting its robustness for manual operations. Additionally, the valve is equipped with EPDM seals specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are sensitive to petroleum-based fluids which can cause damage. This model also uses a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature. While this design aids in cooling the coil during operation, it requires consideration of fluid characteristics as some may degrade at higher temperatures. The interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products offer flexibility in maintenance and replacement. Designed with Sun\u2019s floating style construction, the DMDATBV minimizes internal parts binding that could result from excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This feature enhances the operational consistency and longevity of the valve. With a maximum operating capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and rapid response time typically around 50 ms, this valve is an optimal choice for systems requiring precise control and high switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles/hr.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
