The Sun Hydraulics DMDATBV536 (DMDATBV536) is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve, specifically designed as a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge. This valve is particularly efficient in applications requiring precise control and robust performance under high pressure environments. It operates with a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and features an impressive fatigue rating for the solenoid tube assembly at the same pressure level. The DMDATBV536 offers reliable operation with no minimum hydraulic pressure required for activation. This model is equipped with closed transitions between Spools B and R to enhance performance limits while sacrificing some capacity, which is ideal in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve's fast and consistent response times are facilitated by this design choice. Additionally, it incorporates manual override options with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation; these are expected to last approximately 7,000 cycles. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended to prevent damage from petroleum-based fluids. The DMDATBV536 also utilizes a wet armature design which helps in the cooling process but requires consideration of fluid compatibility as some may degrade under prolonged exposure to heat. Interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds versatility to this model, allowing for easy maintenance and replacement. Furthermore, Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding that might occur due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining, ensuring smoother operation and increased reliability. The valve supports up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) capacity and features rapid response times typically around 50 ms, making it suitable for various dynamic applications requiring precise fluid control.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
