The Sun Hydraulics DMDATBV648 (DMDATBV648) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve, designed for direct-acting and balanced spool directional control. With a robust construction that includes a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve is engineered for demanding applications. The valve features closed transitions between positions B and R, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times, particularly suitable for pilot controls where capacity is less critical. This model does not require a minimum hydraulic pressure to operate, making it versatile across various hydraulic systems. The DMDATBV648 is equipped with manual override options (D, L, and T controls), which include a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. It\u2019s important to note that cartridges configured with EPDM seals are specifically intended for use with phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. Additionally, the valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The wet armature design of the valve ensures the working fluid surrounds the armature; however, long periods of coil energization could lead to fluid degradation in certain conditions. Interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds flexibility in maintenance and replacement tasks. With specifications including a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and typical response times around 50 ms, the DMDATBV648 is tailored for systems requiring precise control and reliability. This model also supports an interchangeable coil system allowing orientation in either direction on the tube assembly for easy installation and serviceability.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
