The Sun Hydraulics DMDATNN (DMDATNN) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for robust hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is specifically engineered to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it suitable for heavy-duty applications. The valve features a unique closed transition between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times during pilot control operations, where capacity is less critical. Notably, the DMDATNN valve operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, facilitating its use in varied hydraulic systems. It incorporates a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature; this design choice is significant for applications where the coil may be energized continuously, as it helps manage heat dissipation. However, users must consider fluid compatibility, especially with water-glycol mixtures that may degrade at higher temperatures. For manual override operations, models equipped with D or L control feature a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with an expected mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles. The valve's construction includes Sun\u2019s floating style design to minimize internal parts binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. Other technical specifications include a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), typical response time of 50 ms, and maximum leakage at 3000 psi set at 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min at 210 bar). It also supports up to 15,000 switching cycles per hour. The solenoid coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. This flexibility along with robust construction makes the Sun Hydraulics DMDATNN an adaptable solution for demanding hydraulic control tasks in various applications.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
