The Sun Hydraulics DMDATNV4E12V (DMDATNV4E12V) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its responsiveness and reliability across various applications. The valve features a robust solenoid tube assembly that is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service, ensuring durability and long-term performance under high-pressure conditions. Equipped with EPDM seals, the DMDATNV4E12V is specifically configured for use with phosphate ester fluids, making it suitable for environments where these types of hydraulic fluids are prevalent. Users should avoid exposure to petroleum-based fluids as they can damage the seals. The wet armature design of the valve means that the working fluid surrounds the armature\u2014important to consider in applications where the coil may be energized continuously, as this could lead to breakdowns in certain fluid types. The DMDATNV4E12V also incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This feature contributes to consistent operational reliability and ease of maintenance. For manual override operations, this model includes a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with an expected mechanical life of about 7,000 cycles. This model's specifications include a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), and quick response times typically around 50 ms. Additionally, it supports interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and offers flexibility in mounting direction on the tube. With its comprehensive design focused on performance and adaptability, the DMDATNV4E12V serves as an essential component for advanced hydraulic control systems requiring precise directional control and reliable operation under varying environmental conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
