The Sun Hydraulics DMDATNV71219 (DMDATNV71219) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve that excels in various hydraulic applications. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is specifically designed to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), making it suitable for rigorous industrial use. The valve features unique closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times, particularly useful in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. This model incorporates a wet armature design allowing the working fluid to surround the armature, which is beneficial in reducing operational temperatures but requires consideration of fluid characteristics as some may degrade under prolonged exposure to heat. The DMDATNV71219 is engineered with interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction for flexible installation options. Additionally, it includes a manual override feature with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation, supporting mechanical life expectancy around 7,000 cycles. The construction utilizes Sun's floating style to minimize internal part binding due to installation variances or cavity/cartridge machining discrepancies. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended; however, these should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids which can damage the seals. The robust design parameters of the DMDATNV71219 make it an ideal choice for applications requiring reliable directional control and rapid switching capabilities (up to 15,000 cycles per hour), all within a compact form factor that maintains minimal leakage and optimal flow characteristics under demanding conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
