The Sun Hydraulics DMDATPN2E24V (DMDATPN2E24V) is a solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. It features a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve mechanism that makes it suitable for high-performance applications where rapid and consistent response times are critical. The valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its versatility across various applications. This model is engineered with a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling up to 5000 psi (350 bar), making it robust for demanding environments. The transition between the spool positions B and R is closed, which although limits flow capacity, significantly enhances performance by providing faster switching times. This characteristic is particularly beneficial in pilot control applications where flow capacity is less critical than response time. The DMDATPN2E24V incorporates EPDM seals recommended for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can cause damage. Additionally, the valve features a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature that can be susceptible to heat during prolonged energization \u2014 an important consideration when using certain fluid types like water-glycol mixtures. Interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products offers flexibility in maintenance and upgrades, while the floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to installation variances or machining errors. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi and a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), along with a swift typical response time of 50 ms and low leakage rates, this valve ensures reliable and efficient operation in hydraulic systems requiring precise control dynamics.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
