The Sun Hydraulics DMDATPN71219 (DMDATPN71219) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service, ensuring robust performance under high-pressure conditions. It features closed transitions between spool positions B and R, optimizing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times especially in applications where capacity is not a critical factor such as pilot controls. This model requires no minimum hydraulic pressure to operate and incorporates a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature. This design consideration is crucial as it exposes the fluid to heat generated by the coil which could affect fluid properties over extended periods of energization. The DMDATPN71219 valve also boasts interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and supports both forward and reverse mounting on the tube. The manual override feature included in models with D or L control uses a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation only, with a mechanical life expectancy of around 7,000 cycles. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended to avoid damage from petroleum-based fluids. Additionally, this valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes potential internal binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This feature contributes to the overall durability and reliability of the valve in demanding operational environments. The DMDATPN71219 has a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and features rapid response times typically around 50 ms, making it suitable for applications requiring quick and precise control.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
