The Sun Hydraulics DMDATPN736 (DMDATPN736) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is specifically designed to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min). The valve's robust construction features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly, ensuring reliability under demanding conditions. This model incorporates a wet armature design allowing the working fluid to surround the armature which helps manage the heat generated by the coil. However, it is important to note that certain fluids may degrade under prolonged exposure to high temperatures. The DMDATPN736 is equipped with interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction for added flexibility. Designed with precision, the valve offers quick response times typically around 50 ms and maintains tight control over leakage with a maximum rate of 5 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi. It supports up to 15,000 switching cycles per hour, demonstrating its capability for high-frequency operation. The manual override feature requires minimal force (5 lbs at 1000 psi for Port 1) and provides a stroke of .10 inches, allowing for easy temporary actuation. The construction benefits from Sun's floating style which minimizes internal part binding due to variations in installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining discrepancies. This model also includes EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid contact with petroleum-based substances to prevent seal damage. For maintenance or replacements, specific seal kits are available under Viton: 990411006 for cartridges and Viton: 990770006 for coils. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics DMDATPN736 offers reliable performance and versatility for applications requiring precise fluid control under high-pressure conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
