The Sun Hydraulics DMDATPN924N (DMDATPN924N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for use in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a robust construction, capable of handling maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and flow capacities up to 12 gpm (45 L/min). The valve\u2019s solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for demanding applications, ensuring durability and reliability. The DMDATPN924N incorporates a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature, which is beneficial for heat dissipation but requires consideration regarding fluid type as some fluids may degrade under prolonged heat exposure. Specifically designed for use with phosphate ester fluids, it employs EPDM seals that are resistant to these fluid types but can be damaged by exposure to petroleum-based fluids. This model features interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and offers flexibility in mounting orientation. The manual override option included in models with D or L control utilizes a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation, with an expected mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles. Additionally, the valve design minimizes potential internal parts binding through its floating style construction which compensates for installation torque variations and machining discrepancies. Ideal for applications requiring precise control and fast response times such as pilot controls where capacity is less critical due to its closed transition spools between positions B and R. This characteristic enhances performance limits while sacrificing some capacity. The rapid switching capability (up to 15,000 cycles per hour) combined with typical response times of around 50 ms makes this valve suitable for systems where quick directional changes are crucial.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
