The Sun Hydraulics DMDATPV836 (DMDATPV836) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a robust construction that is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service, ensuring reliable operation under high-pressure conditions. The valve's spools B and R are closed during the transition between positions, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times, particularly suitable for applications where capacity is less critical. This model operates without the need for a minimum hydraulic pressure, offering flexibility in a variety of system configurations. Additionally, it incorporates manual override options with detent mechanisms designed for temporary actuation; these are expected to last approximately 7,000 cycles. The DMDATPV836 utilizes EPDM seals compatible with phosphate ester fluids, making it ideal for systems where petroleum-based fluids are not used due to the potential damage they could cause to the seals. The wet armature design of this valve allows the working fluid to surround the armature which helps manage heat dissipation when the coil is energized over extended periods. This feature needs careful consideration in systems using water-glycol mixtures as these fluids can degrade at higher temperatures. Furthermore, the interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products add versatility to this component by allowing mounting on either side of the tube. With a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and quick response times typically around 50 ms, this valve is well-suited for rapid switching applications up to 15,000 cycles per hour. It also features Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding and accommodates various installation conditions effectively. The compact design includes a hex size of 7/8 in (22.2 mm), making installation straightforward with standard tools and specified torque settings between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm).

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
