The Sun Hydraulics DMDATRN924N (DMDATRN924N) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve. It features a direct-acting, balanced spool design that is essential for efficient directional control in hydraulic systems. The valve operates with a maximum capacity of 12 gpm/45 L/min and can handle pressures up to 5000 psi/350 bar. Its quick response time of approximately 50 ms and the ability to handle switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles per hour make it suitable for applications requiring rapid and frequent switching. The DMDATRN924N utilizes a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature, suitable for systems using water-glycol mixtures although prolonged exposure at high temperatures may affect performance due to fluid breakdown. This model is equipped with EPDM seals specifically designed for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are vulnerable to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. This valve also incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction which helps minimize internal part binding due to installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. For manual override operations, it includes a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. The manual override requires an actuation force of about 5 lbs at 1000 psi on Port 1 and has a stroke of .10 inch. Additionally, the solenoid coils of the DMDATRN924N are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube, enhancing flexibility and ease of maintenance. This model\u2019s robust construction and versatile features make it an excellent choice for various hydraulic applications where reliability and precision are critical.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
