The Sun Hydraulics DMDAXAV712 (DMDAXAV712) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve that features a direct-acting, balanced spool design. This valve is specifically engineered to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and is fatigue rated for robust, long-term performance. It offers a flow capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min), making it suitable for various hydraulic applications requiring precise control and reliability. The DMDAXAV712 incorporates advanced features such as closed transitions between spool positions B and R, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, particularly in pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve's wet armature design allows the working fluid to surround the armature, which helps in managing the heat generated by the coil during prolonged energization. However, this could affect fluid integrity over time if exposed to high temperatures frequently. This model also supports manual override options with a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation. These manual controls are expected to withstand approximately 7,000 cycles, ensuring durability in demanding settings. Additionally, the valve is compatible with EPDM seals for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid contact with petroleum-based substances which may damage the seals. Interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds versatility to this unit, allowing for straightforward maintenance and replacement processes. The DMDAXAV712 also benefits from Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding\u2014a common issue due to installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. This construction feature ensures reliable operation and extends the operational life span of the valve under varying mechanical conditions.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
